Smile design, which is the primary goal of aesthetic dentistry, includes procedures for teeth and gums in a way that fits the person’s face and makes the patient feel happier and safer. The primary goal in personalized smile design is to treat decayed teeth and gum diseases. In the next steps, teeth cleaning, teeth whitening, prosthesis and implant applications for tooth deficiencies, porcelain veneers, zirconium veneers and orthodontic treatments are performed.
Smile design is a process that includes many treatment stages. In the first step of the application, the expectations of the patients are acknowledged explicitly by the dentist. Type of the treatment is decided. Photographs and videos are taken to transfer the patient’s existing oral structure and dental alignment to digital media. The digital design is then converted into a model and an appointment is organized for testing.
A silicone mold, called a mock up, is placed into the patient’s mouth. For a good smile design, an appointment program of 2 sessions is followed on average. If the created design is suitable for the patient’s tooth structure, the process is completed in 3 sessions.
It is very important to determine the needs of the patient correctly before the smile design. A plan is prepared with the measurements and modeling methods obtained by considering the patient’s mouth structure.
